Our History
Professional Community Management of California, Inc.,(PCM) is one of the most highly regarded
managers of family-oriented homeowner associations and active-adult age qualified
communities in the nation. With headquarters in Lake Forest-Orange County, California,
PCM manages common interest developments in Southern California representing a
combined real estate value in excess of $50 billion. Regional corporate offices are located in
San Diego County, Riverside County and Las Vegas, Nevada. PCM grew out of a not-for-profit company that
managed Laguna Woods Village at its inception in 1964. PCM has held the management
contract at this honored active-senior community since 1972 when the company was
incorporated to manage a diverse range of homeowner associations or Common Interest
Developments (CIDs).
Professional Community Management of California, Inc., celebrating almost 40 years of service, has
gained national respect and prominence with a management portfolio of 125,000 housing
units in approximately 300 homeowner associations. The Multi Housing Council has
recognized PCM as one of the largest management firms in the United States. PCM was the
first company in California to receive the prestigious designation of Certified Management
Firm (CMF®) conferred by the California Association of Community Managers.
In its history, PCM has experienced several changes of ownership under public and
private companies, with a management scope ranging from nation-wide to the present base
in Southern California. It is interesting to note that throughout the changes, leadership of the
company has remained in the hands of Co-CEO’s Russell L. Disbro and Jeffrey B. Olsen.
Corporate structure has evolved to include Professional Community Management
International, Inc. as holding company for subsidiary corporations of Professional
Community Management of California, Inc.; Professional Community Management, Inc.;
PCM Realty and Marketing, Inc.; and most recently, PCM Consulting, Inc. which will
provide California Department of Real Estate budget preparation, community association
forward planning, financial analysis and governance structure consulting services to
builders and developers for a diverse range of community associations. In 1994, Disbro
and Olsen acquired equal shares of all the stock in the company, and they now direct all
of the activities of the privately held corporations. These two industry leaders represent a
combined experience level exceeding 60 years.
